Besrate Gabriel

Besrate Gabriel School was established in 1953 by De La Salle Brothers from France. It Began as a primary school for boys which included grades K to six. Classes were conducted in French until 1960 when English became the language of instruction. In 1984, Besrate Gabriel became co-educational. In 2004, it added a high school component, becoming a K to 12 school.

The school has a Lasallian Christian ethos based on our Founder’s purpose: to provide a Christian education to the young, especially the poor. We teach our students to be concerned for the poor who surround us. We give them opportunities to show this concern by yearly collections for the poor during Advent and Lent. In so doing, we believe we are helping to mold responsible citizens of Ethiopia.  In addition, we have a service club that has as its purpose to serve the needy.
